About The Position

The Technician provides electrical and electronic technical services for process and control equipment for all operating departments in the facility and for building and grounds and utilities. Secures equipment and oversees installation of new and improved equipment and systems for the enhanced profitability of this Division.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in electronics technology
  • Demonstrate technical strengths in PLC’s, AC/DC drive systems, and process control instrumentation.
  • 3 to 5 years of PLC, AC/DC drive systems and process control instrumentation preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work with people in such a manner as to build high morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
  • Able to act in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; able to use reason, even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, touch or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds unassisted.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the hardware and software for electrical and electronic control systems to ensure production equipment up-time is optimized and provides trouble shooting services
  • Assists Maintenance electricians to learn the new equipment and operations as well as the establishment of spare parts and materials
  • The technician is on call for rotating weekends (on call schedule is divide among all available technical personnel).
  • Identifies new electronic systems in the marketplace, recommends purchase, and oversees the installation and startup of the new systems
  • Provides support to the engineering department members to ensure the proper exchange of data and information for a successful operating system.
  • The technician will promote and demonstrate activities such as meeting the NFP 70 safety standards and development of employee safety programs.
  • Promotes lean, quality; team concepts.
