About The Position
Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (“Shentel”) provides High-Speed Internet and other telecommunications services to customers in the Mid-Atlantic United States, with a focus on rural communities. Their brands include Shentel (traditional cable Internet), Glo Fiber (fiber-optic Internet for larger cities), and Shentel Business/Glo Fiber Business (telecommunication services for businesses). The company emphasizes local community support. Glo Fiber is expanding and seeking new employees for various key positions, including technicians, installers, and retail sales representatives, in preparation for new market launches. The Drop Technician role involves demonstrating and developing skills for installing broadband service drops, both aerial and buried, to connect customer homes and businesses. This includes operating a vibratory plow/trencher, reading, creating, and maintaining schematics/diagrams, and boring under sidewalks and driveways when appropriate. This position requires a self-starter who can work efficiently and independently to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work, successfully completing drop installations and broadband service activations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED
- 0-2 Years of Field Operations or Construction related experience
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to carry and climb a 28' ladder from truck to pole and/or house
- Ability to work in an array of weather conditions
- Walking, sitting, kneeling & crouching for extended periods
- Driving
- Self-starter that can work efficiently and independently to meet deadlines and deliver high quality work
Responsibilities
- Demonstrating and developing the skills and knowledge required for installing broadband service drops
- Working with both aerial and buried drops for connecting broadband customer homes and businesses
