About The Position

The Overnight ER/ICU Technician Assistant supports veterinarians and credentialed technicians in providing continuous care for hospitalized and emergency patients during overnight hours. The role helps keep patients safe, comfortable, and closely monitored until morning, working within a smaller overnight team in a high-acuity environment. Overnight and weekend shifts include a shift differential. The position involves hands-on support for patient care, treatments, procedures, basic diagnostics, and monitoring, along with maintaining organized treatment and ICU areas and supporting accurate EMR documentation. The role is suited to someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and interested in emergency and critical care.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a clinical, shelter, or veterinary setting.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Comfort working in a busy, high-acuity environment.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn EMR systems.
Ability to stand, lift, and assist with animal handling for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

Veterinary Assistant or Technician Assistant experience.
Enrollment in or interest in a Veterinary Technology program.
Prior experience in emergency or specialty medicine.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and technicians with overnight patient care and treatments.
Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly report changes to the medical team.
Safely restrain patients and support procedures as directed.
Prepare medications, supplies, and treatment areas.
Collect and run basic diagnostics as trained.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment and ICU areas.
Support accurate documentation and workflow in the EMR.
Communicate clearly and calmly during high-acuity, low-staff situations.
Follow AAHA standards, hospital protocols, and core values.
