About The Position

Yancey Bros. Co. is offering multiple apprenticeship opportunities for individuals interested in a career as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician. These programs provide both classroom and hands-on training to prepare apprentices for the role. The starting pay is $18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases. Apprentices receive a complete set of tools valued at $8,000, which they can keep after two years of employment. This is a full-time, entry-level position with opportunities for advancement through the Yancey career development program upon completion.

Requirements

• Completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Meet Yancey employment requirements, including passing mechanical testing, background checks, driving record checks, and drug screening.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Desire to work in the Heavy Equipment industry as a technician.
• Drive to learn new skills.
• Safety consciousness.
• Ability to multitask.
• Problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in instructor-led training covering engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, preventative maintenance, and air conditioning.
• Engage in hands-on training and process/procedure experiences under supervision.
• Work with a mentor to complete training tasks and gain practical experience.
• Learn to operate and climb underneath equipment.
• Lift, carry, and lower up to 100 lbs.
• Provide superior customer service.
