About The Position

The Evening Shift Technician Apprentice is a casual part-time training role at Servco Toyota Honolulu for individuals pursuing an Associate's degree in Automotive Technology and seeking hands-on dealership service experience. Working closely with the Evening Shift Supervisor and experienced technicians, the apprentice develops practical automotive maintenance and repair skills while supporting the evening service shift. The role emphasizes safe, quality-focused work, accurate repair-order documentation, completing assigned work within the evening shift, and continued development of technical competency. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, approximately 17.5 hours per week. Work must be performed from valid repair orders and within the apprentice's approved scope, training, and demonstrated competency. During initial training, maintenance work is performed on pre-owned vehicles. Customer vehicles require required quality-control checks and supervisory review before release or handoff. Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Currently pursuing an Associate's degree in Automotive Technology.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Strong interest in the automotive technical field and willingness to learn new skills.
Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in automotive technical operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions from supervisors and mentors.
Reliability, punctuality, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
Commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines and protocols.
Basic computer proficiency.
Basic automotive repair and maintenance knowledge.
Ability to follow repair orders, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and supervisor direction.

Responsibilities

Complete assigned work safely, accurately, and within the scheduled evening shift; do not carry work over to the day shift without supervisor direction and an approved exception.
Perform work only from valid repair orders created by a Service Consultant before work begins.
Document work performed, findings, status, parts or follow-up needs, incomplete items, and issues affecting completion, quality, or vehicle release accurately and on time.
Escalate work beyond the approved light-duty scope, training level, or demonstrated competency to the Evening Shift Supervisor.
Notify the Evening Shift Supervisor promptly if a job may not be completed within the shift or requires work beyond the approved scope.
Complete required quality-control checks and obtain supervisory review on customer vehicles before release or handoff.
Perform maintenance work on pre-owned vehicles during the initial training phase, within the approved work scope.
Participate in training, coaching, hands-on demonstrations, performance feedback, and other development activities.
Follow standard operating procedures, manufacturer and service procedures, shop processes, and mentor or supervisor direction.
Use and care for tools, equipment, materials, and shop resources safely and responsibly.
Follow safety protocols, PPE requirements, equipment procedures, vehicle-lift practices, and facility rules.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area and handle tools, equipment, vehicles, and keys properly.
Exercise care with customer and company vehicles and promptly report damage, safety concerns, equipment issues, or other exceptions.
Leave vehicles, keys, tools, parts, and documentation in the approved location and status for end-of-shift handoff.
