Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Yancey Bros. Co. is offering multiple apprenticeship opportunities for individuals interested in a career as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician. These programs provide both classroom and hands-on training to prepare participants for the role. The starting pay is $18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases. Apprentices receive a complete set of tools valued at $8,000, which they can keep after two years of employment. This is a full-time, entry-level position with opportunities for advancement through the Yancey career development program upon completion.
Requirements
- High school diploma and/or GED.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Meet Yancey employment requirements.
- Pass all mechanical testing, background checks, driving record checks, and drug screening.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Desire to work in the Heavy Equipment industry as a technician.
- Drive to learn new skills.
- Safety consciousness.
- Ability to multitask.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide superior customer service.
Nice To Haves
- Previous mechanical experience.
Responsibilities
- Participate in instructor-led training covering engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, preventative maintenance, and air conditioning.
- Engage in hands-on training and process/procedure experiences under supervision.
- Work with a mentor to complete assigned tasks and gain practical experience.
- Learn to operate and climb underneath equipment.
- Perform tasks requiring lifting, carrying, and lowering up to 100 lbs.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
