About The Position

Yancey Bros. Co. is offering multiple apprenticeship opportunities for individuals interested in a career as a diesel technician. These programs provide both classroom and hands-on training to prepare you for work as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician. The starting pay is $18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases at the 6-month and 12-month marks. Apprentices receive a complete set of tools valued at $8,000, which they can keep after two years of employment. This is a full-time, entry-level position with opportunities for advancement through the Yancey career development program upon completion.

Requirements

• High school diploma and/or GED.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Meet Yancey employment requirements.
• Pass all mechanical testing, background checks, driving record checks, and drug screening.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Desire to work in the Heavy Equipment industry as a technician.
• Drive to learn new skills.
• Safety conscious.
• Ability to multitask.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide superior customer service.

Nice To Haves

• Previous mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in classroom and hands-on training to become a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician.
• Follow an outline of class material, hands-on training, and process/procedure experiences under supervision.
• Complete structured task/accomplishment check-ins.
• Work with a mentor to complete hands-on training and process/procedure experiences.
• Attend facilitated classes covering engines, hydraulics, electrical, preventative maintenance, and air conditioning certification.
