About The Position

Supports one or more basic quality technologies such as Smart Gages. Is competent in programming, application and usage and possesses the skill for set-up and operation. Able to assist in the development of new uses for these technologies and can recognize and solve most routine and some non-routine challenges associated with the application and use of the technology without assistance. Is considered an SME for the basic technology they support. Possesses a solid understanding of quality & metrology; promotes and follows standard practices. Exhibits strong communication skills and seamlessly participates in routine interaction with associates and others from different functional areas. Oversee and assist with quality development on the technology.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of applicable quality / metrology experience preferably around technology required or equivalent education.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard office software such as Word and Outlook and is advanced in the use of Excel.
  • Proficient in the proper use of the targeted quality technology (e.g., CMM, Eddy Current, etc.) and can train others.
  • Diagnoses equipment problems related to quality risk and outcomes – separate from electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other items commonly associated with maintenance (Rx).
  • Working knowledge of associated PLC, hardware, software and controller programming as applicable to the operation of the quality technology.
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply troubleshooting skills necessary to assure a qualified output.
  • Can understand equipment and product blueprints, assembly drawings and process flow diagrams.
  • Routinely interfaces with product, process and quality engineering to assure the proper interpretation of requirements and application of the technology.
  • Utilizes analysis methods such as R&R testing, linearity, stability, capability analysis, etc. with limited assistance.
  • Understands statistics at a fundamental level and can apply them as directed.
  • Capable of product inspection and testing sufficient to validate the quality technology as well as to provide reports on its continued effectiveness at intended function.
  • Remains up-to-date and follows all safety guidelines, procedures and policies.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to pass vision acuity test with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be capable of standing for 8-12 hours a day, lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and lift 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity required to properly handling all types of gages; instrumentation; computers and their peripherals; as well as electronics and other similar items commonly associated with high – tech inspection and test devices such as coordinate measuring machines for example.
  • Some squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching and twisting is required.
  • In some environments, one must be willing to work in enclosed/confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference toward an associate degree in a scientific or other discipline related to work (e.g., math, statistics, mechanics, machining technology, etc.).
