Perform Certified Weld Inspections (CWI) on a variety of on-site construction projects and support AET’s construction materials testing (CMT) with observations and testing of materials. The services provided by the CMT Department are performed to the standards of industry including AWS, ASME, ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, and IBC as well as state laws governing professional services. All services will be performed in accordance with AET’s QA/QC procedures. The Technician will have an important role in coordination with AET project managers in delivery of site visit inspection reports and communication with on-site construction personnel.

Requirements

  • Current American Welding Society (AWS) certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • BS degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Physical Science and a minimum of 6 months of experience OR;
  • 2 years of Technical School and 1 year of experience OR;
  • High School Diploma with 2 years of experience.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in areas of Construction Materials Testing and Inspections: ACI Concrete Field
  • DOT – Concrete, Aggregate, Asphalt
  • Nuclear Density Guage Operator

Responsibilities

  • Perform CWI observations on active construction sites. Interpret results and prepare reports documenting results.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining QA procedures.
  • Maintain current procedures and equipment calibrations.
  • Maintain client contact for ongoing projects and interface with the project manager to prepare proposals, schedule laboratory and field testing activities.
  • Assist in the promotion and marketing of AET.
  • Training to obtain and maintain certifications. Stay abreast with current technologies utilized by AET.
  • Conduct field, laboratory and office activities in a manner consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, along with AET’s QA and Health and Safety Policies, to promote the safety and protection of employees, clients and the public.
  • Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people, work effectively within project teams, resolve issues and problems in a constructive manner, and work independently in the field.
