About The Position

The Technician 2, Electronics, CCTV/LAN, Technology Repair, will perform skilled technical duties in installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of electronic equipment. The Technician 2, Electronics, CCTV/LAN, Technology Repair, duties are performed under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor who evaluates performance through observation of work, periodic conferences, and/or records and reports.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma, vocational, or GED certificate.
  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in installation, maintenance and/or repair of various types of electronic equipment.
  • Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
  • Writes routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.
  • Adds and subtracts two digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s.
  • Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or formal training in computer technology is preferred.
  • Completion of formal course work in an electronic related area at an institution above high school level may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of experience.
  • Possession of Comptia A+ and/or Network+, and vendor certifications may be required prior to the end of the normal six-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance and/or repair of equipment such as computers, servers, printers, copiers, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), network electronics, audio visual, electronic white board, and other electronic equipment used at school and administrative sites.
  • Moves, stores, and sets up electronic equipment at schools, maintenance, and administrative sites undergoing renovations or construction.
  • Troubleshoots diagnoses and repairs computers, servers, printers, copiers, fax machine, UPS, networking equipment, audio visual, electronic white board, and other electronic equipment used at school and administrative sites.
  • Programs network electronics for operation within district’s network.
  • Identifies and orders parts required for repairs.
  • Maintains use and updates work order system.
  • Understands and practices shop safety standards and requirements.
  • Operates various types of electronic test equipment such as digital multimeters and the like.
  • Works in a team environment and takes instruction from team leaders.
  • Drives district-owned vehicles and maintain good driving record and have a driver's license for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
