About The Position

The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for a Technical Writer (Mechanical Structure) to join our Technical Publications team based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada). You will be part of the Structures team and be responsible for revising the Aircraft Maintenance Publication (AMP) and Repair section of the Structural Repair Publication (ASRP). The team is organized in such a way as to promote autonomous cross-functional collaboration, supporting each other and learning collectively. Your role as “Technical Writer” will be to review engineering documentation, carry out impact analysis, review revised tasks/create new tasks in Simplified Technical English for the approval and incorporate changes, perform on aircraft validation (OAV) for the tasks associated with AMP (Structures) and ASRP (Repairs).

Requirements

  • A college degree in aircraft maintenance, aerospace engineering or a related field and five (5) years of experience in aviation (as a technician, methods agent or as a technical writer).
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft structures, structural repair methods, and systems.
  • Good understanding of the engineering change drivers and Aircraft Configuration Management applicable to the AMP and Repair Engineering Orders (REO) for ASRP.
  • Proficient with CATIA, S1000D, SAP, and Google Workspace.
  • Good computer skills and the ability to read and understand engineering documentation including the engineering drawings.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt any new tools and technologies as per the job requirements.
  • Committed team player, responsible, good communicator and negotiator.
  • Understanding of Technical Publications processes and technologies.
  • Good knowledge of SGML and XML authoring languages.
  • Able to handle stress and push/pull on other departments to respect the committed deadlines.

  • Customer oriented and fluent in English and French (spoken and written).
  • Superior level in English (written).

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, write and revise the Aircraft Maintenance Publication (AMP) and incorporate Repair engineering orders (REO) into the Aircraft Structural Repair Publication (ASRP) on all the structural chapters.
  • Understand all the engineering documentation which drives the changes to AMP and ASRP.
  • Write and revise the maintenance procedures by understanding the scope of the engineering changes.
  • Define and maintain the Data Module Requirements List (DMRL). Coordinate with internal engineering teams, the Customer Response Center (CRC), and external suppliers to ensure alignment with released engineering.
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) of Data Module’s (DM) submitted by our suppliers for inclusion in the publications.
  • Perform On Aircraft Validation (OAV) of the new AMP tasks and determine the timing required to perform each task.
  • Perform, validate and incorporate on-aircraft validation comments per departmental standards/guidelines.
  • Conduct reviews of engineering documentation for inclusion into the publications.
  • Ensure customer and operator requests are analyzed, coordinate with CRC, engineering team and respond to the originator.
  • Co-ordinate, define and maintain publication Data Module Requirements List (DMRL) with internal and external suppliers.
  • Identify and implement processes for product improvements in line with the Strategic plan.
  • Identify, evaluate and support definition of action plans and schedules to minimize risks to completion of the publications according to the program requirements.
  • Coordinate with our suppliers and stake holders for ensuring the AMP and ASRP tasks are up-to date in line with the released engineering.
