About The Position

We are looking for a remote contractor (or full-time team member) to transform our technical documentation into a high-performing SEO acquisition channel. This role requires structuring, optimizing, and expanding technical content to rank in search and AI-driven discovery. The ideal candidate will have a deep background in documentation, technical writing, and a good understanding of SEO from a documentation perspective. The role will involve using AI tooling and the latest techniques to achieve results. This is a core role where you will be our “Docs Growth Owner.” You will be working with an SEO agency, so expertise in documentation and video creation is prioritized over seasoned SEO expertise. Video creation, including training and support videos for technical users, is a significant part of this job. You will be responsible for developing high-quality documentation, including video content, how-to articles, and case studies to simplify software product usage and reduce support load, with KPIs focused on organic traffic and rankings. You will own the documentation, SEO, content ranking (page 1), AI placement recommendations, and backlinking strategy. There is an opportunity to own the full documentation process if this project is successful.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with SaaS, APIs, or developer documentation.
  • Proven experience with Technical SEO (not just blog SEO).
  • Strong understanding of software architecture concepts (APIs, licensing, usage tracking).
  • Strong understanding of search intent and keyword mapping.
  • Ability to turn fragmented docs into structured, ranking content.
  • Fluent written English (native or near-native).
  • Strong use of the latest AI tooling (company will purchase as required).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with monetization, billing, or licensing systems/software development (SDLC), etc.
  • Experience with tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, SurferSEO.
  • Experience with Markdown-based documentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Documentation SEO Optimization: Rewrite existing docs pages to align with high-intent search queries, improve titles, headings, and on-page keyword targeting, add contextual introductions and use cases to technical pages, work with colleagues to generate content, and ensure content remains high quality, detailed, useful, and valuable to developers.
  • Pillar Content Creation: Create 5–10 long-form “pillar” technical guides (2,000–4,000 words) on topics such as Entitlement Management Architecture, Usage-Based Licensing Implementation, Software Licensing System Design, and Hybrid Monetization Models.
  • Internal Linking & Topic Clusters: Build structured internal linking across docs and marketing pages (working with the marketing team), recycle video and training content into the docs from the university and other sources, and create topic clusters (licensing, entitlements, usage, APIs).
  • Technical Content Enhancement: Add/create architecture diagrams, API examples, step-by-step implementation flows, video content, and use cases.
  • Schema & AI Optimization: Implement FAQ, HowTo, and TechArticle schema, and structure content for AI search visibility (clear definitions, summaries).
  • Ongoing Content & Maintenance: Continuously expand docs with new SEO-driven pages, monitor rankings and iterate on content monthly, and produce a monthly report on progress and rankings vs competition.
