The Level 2 JTD Technical Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation that supports joint programs and initiatives across multiple stakeholders (e.g., internal engineering teams, government partners, and prime contractors). This role builds on foundational writing skills and adds a focus on cross-functional coordination, compliance with defense documentation standards, and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, user-friendly content. Author and update system specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), user manuals, maintenance procedures, and test reports for joint programs. Work closely with engineers, program managers, quality assurance, and external partners to gather technical data, resolve ambiguities, and ensure documentation reflects the latest design baselines. Apply applicable standards (e.g., DoD SDLC, MIL-STD-498, DODAF, JAD, and corporate style guides) and ensure all deliverables meet security classification and export-control requirements. Coordinate peer-review cycles, incorporate feedback from subject-matter experts, and verify technical accuracy through bench-level or simulation data where applicable.
