About The Position

The 2027 Summer Internship Program at The Toro Company (TTC) offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience in technical writing. The program runs from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027, and requires candidates to be available for the entire duration. TTC, a company with over 100 years of history and more than 11,000 employees worldwide, is a leader in innovative turf maintenance equipment, irrigation systems, landscape and lighting products, snow and ice management solutions, agricultural irrigation systems, rental and underground construction equipment, and residential turf and snow equipment. Products are marketed globally through a diverse network of distributors, dealers, retailers, and online channels.

Requirements

  • Majoring in Technical Communications from an accredited university.
  • Completed junior-level courses preferred.
  • Ability to stay organized and able to use Microsoft Office, Arbortext, and common graphics programs without much direction.
  • Strong desire to learn, collaborate, and effectively communicate in a team setting while achieving a common goal.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of a school/employment or any other visa, regardless of expiration date, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with step-by-step instruction development
  • Understanding of basic industrial machine functions (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic)
  • Graphic arts experience

Responsibilities

  • Learn how modern technical information delivery systems are organized
  • Work with the Toro technical writing team to develop new materials
  • Review and edit both text-based and graphic-based materials
  • Review existing materials on actual machinery for clarity and accuracy
