About The Position

The Technical Training Specialist develops and administers technical service training to internal and external service providers as well as end customers. Maintaining an environment of continuous improvement regarding service provider capabilities through consistently updated training curriculum and delivery methods will lead to reduced technician ramp-up (learning) time, improved first time fix rates, shortened time to complete calibration or repairs and reduced need for 2nd level support.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Industrial Technology, Education, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical service, field service, technical support, manufacturing, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience delivering technical training, mentoring, coaching, or developing instructional materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to individuals with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple training programs simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and ability to learn training management systems.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including domestic and international travel, as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport if international travel is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technical Education, or a related field, preferred.
  • Experience with metrology, precision measurement equipment, optics, vision systems, CNC equipment, or industrial automation.
  • Experience developing instructor-led and hands-on technical training programs.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, service manuals, videos, or e-learning content.
  • Experience using learning management systems (LMS).
  • Experience working with distributors, dealers, or external service partners.
  • Field service experience troubleshooting electromechanical

Responsibilities

  • Creates a service curriculum that will be the standard training offerings for OGP.
  • Module-based product, accessory, and technology-based training.
  • Adjust curriculum as new products/technology are introduced and legacy products/technology are retired.
  • Develops the syllabus for each standard training offering.
  • Base each class on the skill set/needs of the attendee(s).
  • Develops and utilizes existing content to provide service-based training classes.
  • Organize content in a structured manner for easy implementation.
  • Organize subject matter experts to lead sections of the training class.
  • Administers classes, including: Creating a welcoming and engaging environment for the students.
  • Keeping an organized, well-laid-out training area in the OGP training center.
  • Scheduling classroom, equipment, and calibration artifacts in advance of class.
  • As needed, organizing subject matter experts to lead sections of the training class.
  • Ensuring there is a proper mix of hands-on and textbook activities.
  • Creating and administering pass/fail tests related to class content.
  • Providing certification of training and historical record of that fact.
  • For OGP employees – maintains an employee skills matrix and technical knowledge development plan.
  • Matrix will illustrate the training that each employee has received.
  • Work with other QVS managers to establish an employee-based plan to increase their technical knowledge and efficiency.
  • For Reps/Customers – builds a relationship that fosters open communication and an eagerness for the Rep to send their technician for training when suggested by OGP.
  • Provides service consultative support to others in the corporation as directed by Management.
  • Occasional travel to perform service training.
