The Technical Support Engineer I is responsible for providing leading edge technical support to Indium Corporation’s customers, potential customers, and sales staff. This role involves providing expert technical assistance and guidance to resolve soldering process-related issues, collaborating with account managers and other engineers to develop strategies for customer retention and acquisition, and utilizing in-depth knowledge of Indium Corporation’s materials and surface mount technology (SMT) processes. The engineer will also provide product and process training, execute process optimization and product characterization using SimLab and partner equipment, and develop strong technical relationships with industry partners and suppliers. Additionally, the role supports the Marketing and Marcom departments in new material development and promotional material creation, communicates technical insights across departments, assists in test method development, and maintains expertise in various soldering processes and SMT industries. The engineer will participate in material scale-up, share technical knowledge internally, engage in professional societies and industry standards development, build relationships with key customers, and present technical papers and presentations. Other duties and special projects as assigned.
