About The Position

As OLED Technical Support Chemist, you will support and lead root cause investigations (RCI) of deviant manufacturing batches in OLED materials production. This role focuses on identifying process and material-related sources of variability, implementing corrective actions to bring batches back into specification, and supporting raw material and vendor qualification activities. You operate at the intersection of PD, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain at our Monroeville, PA facility and report to the Technical Service Lead.

Requirements

  • M.S. in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline OR B.S. with >5+ years industry experience in chemistry, materials science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in root cause analysis, statistical thinking, and experimental design.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, NMR, etc.) and crystal morphology characterization techniques (PXRD/XRD, PLM, SC-XRD, DSC, etc.).
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with chemical handling and testing protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and under minimum supervision.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in OLED materials, organic synthesis, or electronic materials processing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead root cause investigations for production batches with nonconformance events through use of structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Evaluate out-of-trend or out-of-specification raw materials through use-testing and quality control manufacturing risk assessments (e.g. variability charting, control charting).
  • Perform and interpret detailed analytical (e.g., HPLC, GC, NMR, ICP, moisture analysis) and structural (e.g. PXRD/XRD, PLM, DSC) analyses to support investigations.
  • Support the qualification and validation of new raw material suppliers, including material characterization and performance benchmarking.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including PD, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to ensure raw material integrity and suitability.
  • Document experimental procedures, test results, and investigation findings accurately and comprehensively. Effectively communicate reports to internal team.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize testing protocols and material evaluation processes.
