About The Position

Lucid is seeking a Technical Specialist, Interior Door Trim to join their passionate engineering team. This role requires an experienced professional with a can-do attitude, technical excellence, the ability to learn quickly, drive issue resolution, and strive for perfection in a fast-paced environment. The specialist will be a key contributor to the Interior Components and Systems Engineering team, serving as the technical expert for Door Trim systems throughout the product development lifecycle. Responsibilities include leading investigations, root cause analysis, and resolution of design and vehicle integration issues related to Door Trim components. The role involves collaboration with various departments such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Purchasing, and Supplier teams to ensure successful development and launch of Interior Door Trim systems. The specialist will also drive technical reviews, support engineering change management, and assist with supplier technical development, validation, and production readiness. Requirements

  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience in automotive Interior Components and Systems, with emphasis on Door Trim, Instrument Panel, Center Console, or related interior systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of automotive interior materials, manufacturing processes, system integration, and component performance requirements.
  • Experience leading technical issue resolution through structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, DFMEA, PFMEA, or similar approaches.
  • Knowledge of automotive product development processes from concept through production launch.
  • Ability to read, review, and evaluate CAD models, engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications (CATIA V5/V6 preferred).
  • Experience supporting design validation, testing, and product release activities.
  • Strong understanding of interior manufacturing processes including injection molding, wrapping, painting, compression molding, and assembly operations.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers to resolve technical challenges and improve product performance.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality systems, change management processes, and launch readiness requirements.
  • Experience with CAE tools, mold flow analysis, finite element analysis, or related engineering simulations.
  • Excellent communication, project coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • One or more full vehicle program cycles from concept development through production launch.
  • Experience with luxury or premium automotive interior systems.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis techniques, statistical problem-solving, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing plants and launch activities during vehicle builds and production ramp-up.
  • Ability to work effectively within global cross-functional teams and suppliers across multiple regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical excellence, timing, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Spanish, German and Chinese language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical expert for Door Trim systems throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Lead the investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution of design and vehicle integration issues related to Door Trim components.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Purchasing, and Supplier teams to ensure successful development and launch of Interior Door Trim systems.
  • Drive technical reviews and support engineering change management activities, including ECRs, deviations, and continuous product improvements.
  • Support supplier technical development, validation activities, production readiness reviews, and launch execution.
  • Establish and maintain technical requirements, design guidelines, lessons learned, and best practices for Door Trim systems.
  • Analyze component and system performance to ensure compliance with functional, durability, safety, craftsmanship, and customer experience targets.
  • Interface with Crash Safety, NVH, Manufacturing Engineering, and Vehicle Integration teams to ensure all product requirements are achieved.
  • Support DVP&R development, validation planning, test result analysis, and corrective actions to ensure product performance meets Lucid standards.
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts during prototype builds, vehicle integration events, and production launches.
  • Develop innovative solutions that improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, cost, and customer satisfaction.
