About The Position

Provides leadership and consultation in a team-based, customer-oriented environment. The Technical Specialist Advisor plays a critical role in data and AI organization shaping the way we are building the data foundation to scale AI. This is a role which requires deep understanding and technical expertise in Cloud and Data Engineering.

Requirements

5+ years of data engineering background
5+ years of hands-on experience in Google Cloud (or similar cloud provider), with specific expertise in GCP-native governance tools like Dataplex, Data Catalog, and BigQuery (lineage/security).
5+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines and using Git.
Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and familiarity with the concept of "Governance as Code."
Experience working with modern AI assistance tools (Copilot, Gemini) to accelerate development and design.
Strong understanding of modern data governance, including knowledge of Data Privacy & Compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
Proven experience implementing Data Mesh principles, including Domain-driven design and treating Data-as-a-Product.
Prior tech lead experience is mandatory.
Must possess the ability to translate complex technical design into a clear, simple language for non-technical stakeholders.
Must have worked in an Agile environment.
Excellent communication skills with a proven comfort level working alongside vendor partners and geographically distributed teams across different time zones.
Skilled in one or more programming languages (Java / Python) used by FedEx.
Knowledge and experience with distributed systems, GCP/Azure, client/server technology, and object-oriented (OO) development.
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, and/or equivalent formal.
Five (5) years of qualifying work experience in an information technology or engineering environment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of Dataplex, SDP and other google services is preferred.
