About The Position

This entry-level position is responsible for coordinating and supporting technical activities within Distribution Engineering. The role requires technical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and excellent teamwork skills to be successful. The Technical Specialist will provide technical assistance, apply technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment, and enhance customer satisfaction. This role involves performing assignments in specialized areas requiring technical expertise, reviewing functional specifications, and coordinating activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The position may also support the review of technical documentation, basic work planning, coordination, budgeting, and cost estimating, as well as the development and updates of single line diagrams and equipment specifications. Additionally, the role supports material procurement, collaborates with QA/QC processes, provides basic technical support to field and construction groups, and utilizes/improves processes and standards. Reporting and presentations to work groups and management are also part of the responsibilities. The position may require extended hours, including storm restoration work and associated drills.

Requirements

  • BS in a technical field or BS Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
  • Zero to two years of professional engineering experience.
  • Business knowledge in the utility & regulated environment.
  • Interpersonal and relationship development skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to resolve technical issues.

Nice To Haves

  • 3.2 GPA or higher preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • Working knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments.
  • Experience in utility industry trade organizations.
  • Experience with MS Office, 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance in support of others.

  • May support the development and updates of single line diagrams, and equipment specifications for engineering review and approval.
  • Supports material procurement.

  • Utilizes and improves processes and standards.

  • May be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
