Technical Solutions Architect

Marco TechnologiesREMOTE, OH
$119,193 - $190,709Remote

About The Position

The Technical Solutions Architect, SaaS Platform owns the solution design layer between business strategy and technical delivery. This role is the primary entry point for complex, high-impact initiatives across Marco’s SaaS unit - responsible for defining how business problems should be solved before the Application Architect designs the technical implementation and the Technical Business Analyst writes the stories. The Solutions Architect will be responsible for evaluating options, assessing fit against the SaaS platform strategy, recommending an approach, and making the call on solution direction with authority. This role carries the strategic depth and analytical rigor of a senior business analyst with the solution design authority of an architect - the person leadership and the delivery team call when a problem is complex, the path forward is unclear, and the right solution needs to be framed before anyone opens a sprint board.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and eight or more years of relevant business analysis, solutions design, or systems strategy experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex solution options and make clear, well-reasoned recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS application ecosystems, integration patterns, and enterprise application strategy
  • Experience operating across cross-functional initiatives with competing priorities, stakeholder complexity, and organizational risk.
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured solution approaches with clear options and tradeoffs.
  • Familiarity with the CPLC domain (customer product lifecycle, contract management, service delivery) strongly preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Master within 3 months of start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Current industry-recognized certifications on relevant applications including Azure DevOps, ConnectWise Suite, e-automate Suite, Microsoft Visio, O365, or Salesforce preferred.
  • Solution architecture or systems design coursework or certification preferred (e.g., TOGAF Foundation, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect Associate).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary solution design authority for complex, cross-functional, and high-impact SaaS initiatives.
  • Receive business problems from leadership and stakeholders; lead discovery to define the solution space before technical design begins.
  • Evaluate solution options - build vs. buy, integrate vs. extend, leverage existing platform vs. introduce new capability - against business value, risk, and strategic fit.
  • Define and own the recommended solution approach, producing clear solution framing documents that articulate the direction, rationale, tradeoffs, and constraints.
  • Hand off solution direction to the Application Architect and Technical BA, ensuring design intent is understood and maintained through delivery.
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate solution pathways for high-impact SaaS initiatives, grounding recommendations in business value, technical feasibility, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Translate business strategy into actionable solution sequencing - considering value, risk, dependency, and alignment to the SaaS platform strategy.
  • Produce tradeoff analyses and options assessments for presentation to senior and executive leadership to support clear, informed decision-making.
  • Assess solution options across the SaaS portfolio, identifying where approaches can be unified, reused, or sequenced for maximum leverage.
  • Identify integration opportunities, platform reuse, and capability consolidation across active SaaS initiatives.
  • Navigate and align senior and executive stakeholders around solution direction, surfacing implications and constraints in language appropriate to the audience.
  • Educate business and technology leadership on solution options, tradeoffs, and the downstream impact of direction decisions on the delivery team.
  • Present recommendations with clear framing of what was considered, what was ruled out, and why - enabling leadership to make decisions with confidence.
  • Drive alignment across adjacent teams and impacted business areas, reducing risk of late-stage requirement conflict or scope misalignment.
  • Identify organizational, operational, and solution-level risks early in the initiative lifecycle, before design and delivery begin.
  • Assess cross-initiative and cross-system impact, identifying how a solution decision in one area creates dependencies or risk in another.
  • Surface and escalate risks to the Director, Application Development before they become delivery problems.
  • Define mitigation strategies and document assumptions that must hold for the recommended solution to remain valid.
  • Maintain situational awareness across all active SaaS initiatives to identify emerging conflicts, dependencies, or strategic misalignments.
  • Partner with the Application Architect to validate solution direction against technical feasibility before handoff - ensuring the recommended approach is buildable within the platform.
  • Partner with the Technical BA to ensure solution intent is accurately preserved in story creation and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain deep familiarity with the SaaS platform strategy and product direction to ensure all solution recommendations align with the long-term platform vision.
  • Apply CPLC domain knowledge to solution design for customer product lifecycle initiatives, serving as a key connector between CPLC business context and SaaS delivery capability.
  • Establish and evolve solution design standards, frameworks, and decision-making practices that raise the quality of solution work across the SaaS Platform team.
  • Serve as a thought partner and sounding board for developers, Technical BAs, and the Application Architect when initiative complexity or ambiguity requires upstream solution clarity.
  • Guide the SaaS team toward consistent, well-reasoned solution approaches — building shared vocabulary and judgment across disciplines, not just within the BA function.
  • Contribute to team capability development by modeling structured solution thinking, options evaluation, and stakeholder communication in complex, high-stakes initiatives.
  • Participate in hiring and interview processes across SaaS Platform roles, contributing perspective on solution mindset and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
  • Continue professional development in solution architecture, enterprise systems strategy, and relevant industry certifications.
