About The Position

The Senior Technical Solutions Architect (FCC) is responsible for creating and maintaining architecture plans and specifications for FCC. This role architects complex technology solutions in environments characterized by a high degree of ambiguity, numerous system integration touchpoints, and significant dependencies across internal and external systems. The position provides architectural leadership and guidance for project and program-level decisions to ensure IT assets align with enterprise architecture standards and strategies across application, business, and infrastructure domains.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of operating in an architecture framework: TOGAF, Zachman
  • Knowledgeable in UML or other standard modelling frameworks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Foundational knowledge of OO Design, SOA, microservices, JEE, cloud, n-tier architectures, databases, APIs, event oriented architecture, enterprise integration patterns, infrastructure.
  • Strong sense of security architecture: identity and access management, encryption, network security, SSO.
  • Excellent technical expertise in the following: traditional and Single Page Apps, Javascript, JEE, Spring, Oracle, AWS, BPM, API Gateway, Content Management, Oracle, MQ and cloud technologies.
  • High breadth and depth of knowledge in multiple subject areas.
  • Minimum 10 years of IT experience with more than 5 years of experience as an Architect within formal Architecture practice.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working on projects that interface with Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Security functions.
  • Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of industry brokerage systems and related legacy system integrations.
  • Experience in roles such as Solution Designer, Application Architect, Solution Architect, Data Architect, or Enterprise Architect.
  • TOGAF Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of FCC architecture and technology strategies, ensuring alignment between business objectives, technology capabilities, and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Provide strategic architectural guidance to business and technology leaders, clearly communicating solutions, dependencies, constraints, and risks to senior management.
  • Design, assess, and maintain complex technology solutions that establish architecture patterns and integrate internal systems and external vendor platforms.
  • Develop and maintain architecture blueprints, standards, and solution designs while ensuring business, technical, and operational requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, delivery teams, and Architecture Review Boards (ARB) to gain alignment and approval for solution approaches.
  • Participate in product and project planning activities with internal teams and vendors, ensuring architectural considerations, dependencies, and constraints are incorporated into delivery plans.
  • Maintain alignment between target-state architecture, project timelines, product roadmaps, and evolving business requirements.
  • Serve as the primary architectural advisor for initiatives, providing leadership in discussions with business, product, technology, and project stakeholders, while addressing trade-offs, issues, and concerns.
  • Identify, advise on, and manage architectural risks, contribute to issue resolution, and assume accountability for the successful completion of architecture-related initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards, policies, and corporate strategies through effective requirements, implementation, and data governance, while communicating standards and best practices across project teams.
