About The Position

The Technical Solution Architect, Digital Marketing & Communications will translate business outcomes, enterprise architecture direction, and engineering realities into coherent, executable solution architectures. This role partners with business, product, engineering, data, security, platform, operations, and enterprise/domain architecture teams to move initiatives from ambiguous business objectives through target-state definition, solution design, delivery, production readiness, and post-production learning. The Technical Solution Architect will own solution architecture for scalable, secure, resilient, and measurable customer engagement capabilities that attract, inform, engage, and serve customers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise digital, data, or customer-facing technology solutions, including 3+ years leading solution architecture or equivalent architecture decision ownership.
  • Demonstrated experience taking an ambiguous business objective through architecture design and production delivery, with the ability to explain the business goal, architecture choices, constraints, personal contribution, and measurable outcome of at least one example.
  • Production cloud architecture experience with AWS and the ability to reason about appropriate compute, integration, messaging/event, data, security, networking, and observability approaches. Depth of architecture judgment matters more than familiarity with a particular list of AWS services.
  • Strong distributed-systems and data-architecture fundamentals, including APIs, asynchronous messaging, event streaming, idempotency, retry and replay, data modeling, identity, privacy and consent controls, and observability.
  • Ability to identify and define meaningful non-functional requirements rather than treating security, performance, resiliency, and operability as generic checklist items.
  • Experience evaluating multiple solution approaches and explaining the tradeoffs, risks, consequences, and rationale behind a final architecture decision.
  • Ability to create clear architecture artifacts and communicate technical decisions to business, product, architecture, and engineering audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries and lead technical decisions through influence.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting marketing, communications, digital experience, customer engagement, CRM, customer data, content, personalization, campaign, journey, analytics, experimentation, or measurement capabilities.
  • Understanding of customer journeys, segmentation, campaign activation, personalization, content delivery, event instrumentation, consent and preference management, and performance measurement.
  • Experience architecting solutions involving commercial marketing products or platforms, such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud or CRM, Adobe Experience Cloud, Braze, Twilio, customer data platforms, experimentation tools, tag management, or CMS/DXP products. Exact vendor certifications are not required.
  • Experience designing cross-channel engagement across email, SMS, push, web, mobile, or direct communications, including identity, consent, preference, deliverability, and customer-experience considerations.
  • Experience in financial services or another regulated environment where privacy, auditability, security, data protection, and operational resilience are important.
  • AWS certification or equivalent demonstrated knowledge of AWS architecture, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, security controls, and cost-aware cloud design.
  • Digital marketing and communications domain knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business outcomes and constraints into capability impacts, current-state assessments, target-state architectures, transition roadmaps, and practical delivery increments.
  • Design end-to-end solutions across websites and mobile applications, content management, CRM and campaign platforms, customer data and identity, consent and preferences, journey orchestration, messaging channels, personalization, recommendations, analytics, and enterprise systems.
  • Establish clear domain, data, event, and API boundaries that support reusable customer profiles, segmentation, decisioning, activation, attribution, and measurement while protecting privacy and consent.
  • Create and maintain architecture artifacts appropriate to the problem, including capability and context views, logical and component architectures, runtime/deployment views, integration and data flows, sequence diagrams, architecture decision records, and option assessments.
  • Define measurable non-functional requirements appropriate to the business criticality and risk of the solution.
  • Identify architectural decisions that materially affect scalability, security, resilience, customer experience, cost, maintainability, or future flexibility, and communicate complex architectural decisions clearly to engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate design discussions and reviews, resolve cross-team architecture questions, and provide guardrails that allow engineering teams to make detailed implementation decisions.
  • Evaluate platforms, vendor capabilities, integration approaches, and buy-versus-build options, and contribute reusable patterns, architecture decisions, lessons learned, and recommendations to the broader architecture community.
  • Mentor engineers, technical leads, and other architects in architecture reasoning, decision making, and effective documentation.
