About The Position

Within this role, you will provide technical services to assigned industry customers for the purpose of sales growth. Promote distinction between Univar Solutions and our competitors by using a technical consultative approach to needs-based evaluations of the technology utilized by customers. Adapt and implement on a local basis, the national product strategies and services as written by the Industry Director. Assist field sellers and industry team members with joint calls. Identify which Univar technological product best suits the customer’s applications and develop strategies to promote customers’ adaptation and or conversion to Univar products. Builds profitable sales, employing a consultative approach. Develops and maintains long-term partnerships with customers by using industry expertise. Use Univar resources to provide solutions to customer needs and gather market intelligence.

Requirements

  • Four year college degree (technical or Chemistry preferred)
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in area of specialization
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Successful experience (five years min) with a technical product concentration in the focused industry.
  • Experience dealing with customers at multiple levels, both internal and external, and supplier partners.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Responsibilities

  • Manage communication with supplier technical recourses
  • Collaborates on products and service solutions
  • Attend product training / continual education / updates
  • Assist with new product launches
  • Assist in qualifications of potential new suppliers/products
  • Provide feedback on technical aspects, intelligence and marketplace
  • Assist customer with application/formulation support
  • Provide technical support at all levels of customer (2,1,0) as necessary
  • Coordinate supplier meetings at key/target customers
  • Review opportunities, coordinates efforts to close with local sales organization
  • Joint calls with Univar Sales and Suppliers at customers
  • Develop technical proposal
  • Generate product/service application solutions
  • Identify new service/product opportunities through monitoring industry/market changes and customer needs
  • Provides training and presentations
  • Fully understands local markets/trends and products for customers
  • Provide product and industry training to all Sales and Sales support teams as required
  • Participate in all Industry related meeting / teleconferences
  • Assist with Supplier/Customer contract negotiations
  • Assist in Business plan development – Goals, forecasts
  • Supports all aspects of development of business opportunities, targets, prospecting
  • Provides communication to stakeholders
  • Assist in tradeshows (national & local) and Industry conference/meetings ; website info, literature development
