About The Position

The Technical Services Coordinator will represent the owner's interests in all MEP-related technical matters throughout the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of data center projects. This role involves ensuring all MEP systems are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, project schedule, and performance criteria, while holding contractors, engineers, and vendors accountable for technical execution and system performance. The coordinator will provide independent verification that installed systems align with approved design and operational intent, act as the primary technical interface between design consultants and construction teams, and oversee the execution and integration of mission-critical electrical, mechanical, fuel, and plumbing systems. Key responsibilities also include providing construction support, resolving complex MEP issues, managing procurement and vendor oversight, supporting commissioning and turnover processes, and aligning MEP system delivery with project schedule milestones and critical path requirements.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience supporting MEP systems on data center projects
  • Experience in an Owner’s Representative, EPC, or mission-critical construction environment
  • Proven track record supporting delivery of complex, fast-track data center builds
  • Deep understanding of data center MEP infrastructure and system integration
  • Strong knowledge of redundancy strategies (N+1, 2N, concurrently maintainable systems)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and electrical one-line diagrams
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.)
  • Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to influence contractors and vendors without direct authority
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Owner-focused mindset with strong accountability for results
  • High technical acumen with practical field execution knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Represent the owner’s interests in all MEP-related technical matters across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning
  • Ensure all MEP systems are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, project schedule, and performance criteria
  • Hold contractors, engineers, and vendors accountable for technical execution and system performance
  • Provide independent verification that installed systems align with approved design and operational intent
  • Act as the primary technical interface between design consultants and construction teams
  • Review and challenge engineering deliverables to ensure completeness, coordination, and constructability
  • Identify design gaps, inconsistencies, or risks and drive timely resolution with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Ensure design aligns with data center reliability requirements (e.g., N+1, 2N redundancy, maintainability)
  • Oversee execution and integration of mission-critical systems, including: Electrical: Utility interconnection, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs, backup generation
  • Mechanical: Chilled water systems, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, heat rejection systems
  • Fuel & Plumbing Systems: Fuel oil systems, water treatment, drainage, and support infrastructure
  • Ensure proper system interfaces and sequencing to support energization and commissioning
  • Provide technical support to the field to resolve complex MEP issues impacting installation and schedule
  • Monitor contractor execution for compliance with design, specifications, and best practices
  • Participate in site walks, technical reviews, and coordination meetings to proactively address issues
  • Drive timely resolution of RFIs, field changes, and technical deviations
  • Review and approve vendor submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation on behalf of the owner
  • Ensure procured equipment meets project specifications, performance requirements, and delivery timelines
  • Support expediting efforts by resolving technical issues impacting fabrication or delivery
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs) and inspections as required
  • Support development and oversight of commissioning plans and procedures
  • Ensure systems are installed and tested in accordance with commissioning and startup requirements
  • Coordinate with third-party commissioning agents to validate system readiness and performance
  • Ensure all systems meet operational and reliability requirements prior to turnover
  • Align MEP system delivery with project schedule milestones and critical path requirements
  • Identify technical risks to schedule, cost, or performance and implement mitigation strategies
  • Provide clear, accurate reporting to project leadership on system status, risks, and recovery plans
