Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university, in Engineering or Industrial Distribution a must.
  • General knowledge of business, industry and sales knowledge learned through a specific degree program.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience required.
  • Strong written and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A basic framework and understanding of sale, or sales engineering within the process industry a plus.
  • Previous or Co-op experience directly related to the valve or process industry preferred.
  • Order Processing, Inventory, Database software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receives training and performs basic duties in several departments such as Sales, Operations, Inside Sales, Accounting, or Branch sales.
  • Learns line and staff functions, operations, management viewpoints, and company policies and practices that affect each phase of business.
  • Sets performance goals and objectives with upper management.
  • Monitors performance progress with management and Human Resources representatives.
  • Observes experienced sales professionals to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of sales job responsibilities.
  • Receives training in functions and operations of related departments to facilitate subsequent transferability between departments and to provide greater promotional opportunities.
  • Prepare proposals/quotes including product sizing, selection and pricing.
  • Interact with customers on a day-to-day basis providing technical, commercial, and general sales support.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and identify opportunities for expanding scope of products/services supplied.
  • Proactively follow up with customers on quotations
  • Attends company-sponsored training classes
