About The Position

Eurofins EAG Materials Science is seeking a Technical Specialist with a strong background in materials characterization to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to transition into a role that blends technical expertise with customer engagement and strategic problem-solving. The role involves serving as the primary technical liaison for customized analytical projects, engaging directly with clients to understand their needs and develop tailored analytical solutions, preparing detailed proposals and quotes, collaborating with internal teams, and supporting the sales team by maintaining strong customer relationships and contributing to revenue growth. The role also requires developing and maintaining technical knowledge across a broad range of analytical methods. Use of information in this role is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All accepted applicants must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR: U.S. Person is a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Materials Characterization experience in academic or industrial settings involving variety of materials, especially surface analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient listener with strong analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Technically adept and computer literate.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep polymer failure-analysis expertise with the ability to scope, lead, and communicate complex investigations directly with clients.
  • 5+ years polymer/materials characterization experience with a strong track record in failure analysis/root-cause investigations (building test plans, narrowing hypotheses, and translating findings into clear conclusions).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate client needs into an executable lab scope (assumptions, deliverables, turnaround, and success criteria) and contribute to proposals/quotes/SOWs.
  • Advanced, applied expertise in FTIR + GCMS, and the ability to connect spectra/data to real-world material behavior across complex mixtures and unknowns.
  • Comfortable leading peer-to-peer technical conversations with clients on experimental design, data interpretation, and next-step recommendations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and drive outcomes under firm deadlines, including proactive risk escalation/conflict resolution.
