About The Position

At ABB, we help industries run leaner and cleaner. This position reports to the ELDS NAM Grid Components Proposals Leader. In this role, you will create and complete bids/estimations/quotations based on customer specifications or requirements/budget to achieve market competitiveness and the expected margin level. You will maintain and improve the balance between ABB units and customers in your area of responsibility. You will formulate competitive bids, estimates, and quotations with the best product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations, ensuring timely, detailed proposals with full and accurate costs. This role contributes to the ELDS Grid Components division in North America and is a remote position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineer.
  • 3 plus years of experience in Electrical Industry.
  • Knowledge or experience with SEL Relays and other Digital Relay Protection systems is required.
  • Knowledge in medium voltage equipment such as breakers, current transformers, relays etc.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with proposal development tools including, but not limited to: SFDC, Empower, Word/Excel, PDF.
  • Good communication, negotiation, autonomous, dynamic; conflict resolution.
  • Possess a strong blend of power systems design and communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate complex concepts to a wide audience base to include engineers, account managers, contractors and channel partners.
  • Must be self-motivated to learn all ABB products/solutions and their associated value propositions in EL.
  • Self-starter - accountable for results and able to work without detailed direction.
  • Candidate must already have worked authorization to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous proposal generation or requisition engineering activities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate project specifications and end-user customer requirements to provide electrical solutions including one-line electrical diagrams, schematic diagrams, lay-out & equipment drawings, equipment specifications and project budget pricing for Low and medium voltage applications.
  • Understand protection and control relays and digital solutions across medium-voltage opportunities through application engineering and opportunity development in collaboration with the local sales team.
  • Formulate competitive bids, estimates, and quotations by considering the best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial aspects for each situation.
  • Create well-documented tenders in a timely manner and with an appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs.
  • Manage the preparation of technical, financial, and, if required, project management aspects of the bid, estimate, and quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.
  • Identify potential risks in the bids, quotations, estimates, and related contract agreements across customers/channels.
  • Provide information and/or participate in the risk review process in accordance with ABB policy.
  • Collect and collate the information required to prepare the proposal, including both technical and cost elements.
  • Establish and maintain effective customer relationships to gain a deep understanding of customer needs and ensure a positive customer experience throughout the sales process.
  • Provide technical support to Sales Managers during technical meetings with customers.
