About The Position

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) owns and is accountable for the cross-functional execution of technical product development projects, from concept through delivery. This role combines technical fluency with project management discipline to ensure timelines, scope, and quality are met. TPM acts as the primary internal coordinator for complex builds and serves as the internal owner of the project plan.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • >3 years of experience in an engineering role, ideally software, electronics, or optics focused, but other disciplines will be considered.
  • >2 years of experience in a project management role.
  • >1 year of experience working at a company that manufactures physical products.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management and Enterprise Resource Planning software (we use PDXpert and SAP B1, respectively), along with the Microsoft suite of tools such as Teams, Planner and SharePoint.
  • Experience creating project proposals, project plans, reports and process documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide customers with timely and meaningful information.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of infrared systems, such as cooled/uncooled sensors, lenses , encoders
  • Experience with scrum or agile project management frameworks
  • PMP or similar professional Project/Program Management accreditation
  • Experience working within an organization with a quality management system.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Engineering and Operations to ensure smooth execution internally and externally. Responsibilities will range from project planning to coordinating BOM purchases and sorting through technical details with customers
  • Coordinate and contribute to internal design and readiness reviews and risk mitigation activities
  • Given that this is a technical role you will also be expected to contribute technically in your areas of relative expertise for these meetings and reviews.
  • Own the integrated project schedule and facilitate scope, priority, and tradeoff decisions with Engineering, Operations, and company leadership to address risks and delivery constraints.
  • Work across the organization to support overall project success. This may at times include the sales team to ensure quotation and purchase orders are handled appropriately, or with the export team to determine any applicable compliance issues. At various times you will likely interact with every department across the company
  • Create and review SOW/Scope documents to ensure product requirements, documentation, and testing align with customer specifications and company capabilities.
  • Represent customer and project/program requirements in design reviews.
  • Track and escalate resolution of barriers to project progress and support reallocation or scope changes when needed.
  • Monitor and report on project status, issues, and deliverables in cross-functional teams
