About The Position

We are partnering with Sony Pictures Entertainment to hire a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to drive execution and delivery across our FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) technology initiatives. This is not a traditional project management role focused primarily on schedules, meetings, and status reporting. We are looking for someone who can operate at the intersection of technical execution, testing and validation, engineering delivery, and program management. The TPM will work directly with internal engineering teams, product, QA, video operations, data teams, and external technology vendors. In addition to owning schedules, dependencies, risks, and delivery, this person will be expected to personally validate APIs, integrations, data flows, system behavior, and vendor deliverables. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation and is comfortable getting hands-on with APIs, SQL, logs, data, monitoring tools, and technical documentation. A previous background in software engineering, QA automation/SDET, solutions engineering, systems engineering, or another hands-on technical discipline is strongly preferred. This role reports to the VP of Technology & Architecture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of combined experience in software engineering, technical program/project management, QA/SDET, solutions engineering, systems engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Demonstrated experience driving delivery within software or platform engineering organizations.
  • Strong technical foundation and ability to work directly with software engineers on implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience testing and validating REST APIs and system integrations.
  • Working knowledge of SQL with the ability to independently query and validate data.
  • Ability to understand system architecture and trace data or transactions through multiple interconnected services.
  • Experience investigating technical problems, reproducing defects, and working with engineering teams to identify root causes.
  • Experience defining technical acceptance criteria and validating software releases end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development practices and experience working directly with engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both engineers and senior leadership.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment with multiple concurrent initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience as a software engineer who transitioned into technical program/project management.
  • Background in QA automation/SDET, solutions engineering, systems integration, or platform engineering.
  • Experience writing scripts or using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages for testing, data validation, automation, or troubleshooting.
  • Experience in the following areas is highly desirable: FAST, OTT, or streaming video platforms.
  • Video processing and distribution workflows.
  • Content management and metadata.
  • Video playback and streaming technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on validation of APIs, system integrations, data flows, and platform functionality.
  • Independently validate technical deliverables and confirm that implementations meet requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Use SQL and data tools to validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency and investigate discrepancies across systems.
  • Inspect API requests and responses, payloads, logs, and system outputs to identify integration or data issues.
  • Reproduce defects and partner with engineers and vendors to isolate root causes and validate fixes.
  • Support production validation and post-release monitoring to ensure systems are operating as expected.
  • Lead planning and execution across multiple concurrent technical initiatives.
  • Manage priorities, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and deliverables across internal and external teams.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, release planning, retrospectives, and other engineering delivery processes as appropriate.
  • Maintain clear and current project plans, technical documentation, decisions, risks, and action items.
  • Ensure communication and expectations remain clear across engineering, product, QA, video operations, data teams, and external partners.
  • Provide concise reporting on program status, technical risks, blockers, and key metrics to senior stakeholders.
  • Drive accountability and follow-through across teams while maintaining strong working relationships.
