About The Position

The Technical Project Manager – Motion Solutions supports moderately complex engineering and manufacturing projects from planning through delivery. This role applies developing professional expertise, established project management practices, and company procedures to coordinate scope, schedules, technical requirements, documentation, and cross-functional deliverables. The position partners with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, vendors, and other internal stakeholders to track progress against milestones, resolve day-to-day project issues, escalate non-routine concerns, and support successful production readiness and project execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in technical project management, engineering coordination, manufacturing engineering, industrialization, or a related environment.
  • Experience supporting moderately complex projects involving planning, scope definition, design coordination, execution, milestone tracking, and delivery.
  • Experience coordinating with engineering, production, supply chain, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support project deliverables and production readiness.
  • Developing professional knowledge of project management practices, engineering processes, manufacturing readiness, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to apply company policies, defined procedures, and known technical practices to resolve day-to-day project issues of moderate scope.
  • Solid working knowledge of project scheduling, milestone tracking, documentation control, and project reporting.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, root-cause analysis, risk registers, validation activities, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with customers, vendors, managers, and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear project updates, document decisions, and communicate status or risks.
  • Good analytical, organizational, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with sound judgment in escalating non-routine issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required if driving is part of the role, in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Ability to be on-site required to support collaborative branch and project operations.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Project Management certification or related training is a plus.
  • Hands-on exposure to fixtures, tooling, equipment, light automation, quality systems, or manufacturing processes preferred.
  • experience with ERP systems such as Epicor Prophet 21 or P21 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assigned engineering and manufacturing projects through the project life cycle, including planning, scope definition, execution, tracking, and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, action plans, resource needs, and deliverable timelines using established project management tools and practices.
  • Track progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, and performance indicators; prepare routine project updates for management review.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, process validation, and production readiness activities for new or modified manufacturing processes.
  • Identify day-to-day project issues, recommend solutions within defined procedures, and escalate more complex matters to management or senior technical staff.
  • Facilitate DFMEA and PFMEA sessions to assess risk in designs, fixtures, equipment, and process flows.
  • Identify and prioritize potential failure modes; develop mitigation strategies and verify effectiveness.
  • Maintain risk registers and ensure lessons learned are fed back into design and process improvements.
  • Lead structured problem-solving activities (5-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC) when issues arise during development or ramp.
  • Coordinate with engineers, technicians, designers, drafters, and production teams to support satisfactory delivery of assigned technical projects.
  • Help translate product designs, approved specifications, and customer requirements into manufacturable, scalable processes.
  • Support fixture, tooling, and special equipment development, including concept review, prototype coordination, functional evaluation, and validation activities.
  • Ensure engineering documentation, bills of materials, process specifications, validation records, and work instructions are accurate and ready for production handoff.
  • Develop preventative maintenance (PM) plans for all new fixtures, tools, and manufacturing equipment introduced through projects.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production Engineering to define PM schedules, spare parts lists, and reliability expectations.
  • Ensure PM requirements are integrated into factory systems (CMMS/ERP) before project closure.
  • Track equipment performance and downtime trends to drive continuous reliability improvement.
  • Build productive internal and external working relationships to support project goals, issue resolution, and timely communication.
  • Coordinate with Engineering on technical requirements, design changes, fixture development, and manufacturability considerations.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and vendors to support sourcing of fixtures, tooling, materials, and long-lead equipment.
  • Work with Sales, Product Management, Production, and Operations to clarify requirements, communicate project status, support process setup, operator training, and changeover readiness.
  • May provide guidance to lower-level employees or peers on project processes, documentation standards, and routine project coordination activities.
  • Maintain project documentation, including schedules, FMEAs, validation reports, PM plans, and engineering change records.
  • Prepare status updates for leadership and facilitate cross-functional reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems, regulatory requirements, and internal audit standards.
