Technical Project Management Engineer

AsusBoston, MA
Hybrid

About The Position

The ASUS Robotics & AI Center is seeking a Technical Project Management Engineer to join our global research and development team. This role owns the planning, execution, and delivery of cross-functional programs spanning UAVs and other robotics platforms, coordinating work across our Boston and Taipei offices and across hardware, software, research, and field testing. We are looking for a disciplined program leader who can bring structure to complex technical work without slowing it down, who is comfortable driving accountability across teams they do not directly manage, and who can translate engineering progress into clear reporting for internal leadership and external partners. The ideal candidate has managed programs that combine hardware and software delivery, has operated in environments with formal milestone and reporting obligations, and thrives in a fast-moving research and development setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, business, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience managing technical projects or programs, including at least 3 years on programs spanning both hardware and software delivery.
  • Equivalent experience gained through public sector service will be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of project and program management practices, including Agile, stage gate, and hybrid approaches, with the judgment to apply the right one to the situation.
  • Proficiency with project tracking and collaboration tools such as Asana, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent.
  • Sufficient technical fluency to follow engineering workflows, including source control, code review, and release processes, and to interpret engineering status independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage programs that combine hardware, software, and integration or field testing workstreams.
  • Ability to influence and drive accountability across teams without direct reporting authority.
  • Comfortable operating across time zones and cultures, including with a Taiwan-based engineering organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with contract-driven program environments, including milestone-based delivery, formal reporting requirements, and change control, is a plus.
  • Flexibility to attend virtual meetings with the Taiwan-based team at least two nights per week.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end planning and execution for assigned programs, including scope definition, scheduling, resourcing, dependency management, and delivery milestones.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning software engineering, hardware engineering, research, and operations across various U.S. and Taipei offices.
  • Maintain and communicate program status, risks, issues, and mitigation plans to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Run recurring program cadences, including planning sessions, program reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Track and manage program deliverables, documentation, and reporting obligations associated with customer and partner commitments.
  • Coordinate field testing, demonstrations, and deployment logistics in partnership with engineering and operations teams.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and external partners, including statements of work tracking and delivery acceptance.
  • Identify process gaps and drive improvements to how programs are planned, tracked, and reported across the organization.
