About The Position

Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture. Within Microsoft Fabric, the Azure Monitor team builds services that enable customers to monitor, detect, troubleshoot, and mitigate issues with their services through an increasingly agentic experience. Azure Monitor includes Log Analytics, Application Insights, Container Insights, Hosted Prometheus, Azure Managed Grafana, and more. Additionally, Azure Monitor is the platform upon which Microsoft Sentinel is built. We have a multi-billion dollar business that is growing rapidly, and we run some of the world’s highest scale observability services both for Microsoft internally and for our external customers, processing over 1.5 Exabytes of logs daily and tracking over 100 billion active metrics. We are looking for a Technical Program Manager II to drive the evolution of Azure Monitor's data collection, telemetry pipeline, and configuration management platform. In this role, you will own key experiences and platform capabilities that enable customers to discover, collect, configure, manage, route, and govern telemetry across diverse environments including Azure, multicloud, on-premises, and edge deployments. You will work at the intersection of customer experience, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, observability, and data platform engineering. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, design, program management, customer support, and field teams to simplify how customers onboard, configure, and operate Azure Monitor at scale. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, transforming customer bottleneck points into scalable platform capabilities, and driving execution across multiple engineering teams.

Requirements

1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years’ experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
4+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
Experience working with financial analysis.

Responsibilities

Own product investments for Azure Monitor data collection and configuration scenarios.
Identify opportunities to reduce operational complexity and improve customer adoption, reliability, and efficiency.
Create clear product requirements, scenarios, success criteria, and operational metrics.
Engage with strategic customers to understand observability architectures and operational challenges.
Work with internal stakeholders across Azure services to ensure Azure Monitor provides consistent and integrated monitoring experiences.
Drive cross-team initiatives from concept through launch.
Manage dependencies, risks, stakeholder alignment, and communication plans.
