As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you will manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs. The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience managing multi-group, multi-disciplinary construction projects and designs.
  • Experience creating prefabrication work packages for construction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems or large-scale mission critical facilities.
  • Experience with productivity tracking, budget and schedule management, and earned value reporting.
  • Experience breaking down electrical and mechanical design into work packages.
  • Experience constructing technical facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and support of team initiatives and goals. Develop charters, work with internal stakeholders on strategies and objectives, establish success criteria, and align resources and schedules to achieve the objectives.
  • Support the development of prefabrication execution strategies and advanced work packaging initiatives for North American data center construction, partnering with internal teams and external vendors to scale consistent, repeatable processes.
  • Manage project progress, risks, and mitigation throughout development and execution, independently analyzing complex construction challenges and communicating timely updates to leadership.
  • Gather internal requirements and deliver end-to-end customer solutions from construction to deployment, while engaging with supply chain partners to resolve challenges and scale industry best practices across the data center portfolio.
  • Resolve critical issues to protect project timelines and costs, driving consensus and compromise across matrixed partner organizations.
