This role works closely with Clinical Operations, study teams, product engineering, UX, privacy, quality, and compliance stakeholders to help define roadmap priorities, support value realization, and ensure the squad delivers capabilities that improve study execution, participant and site experience, and operational outcomes. The Technical Product Owner owns backlog prioritization, supports release planning and squad ceremonies, and helps balance customer needs, business value, and technical feasibility while ensuring alignment with data integrity, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance expectations.

Requirements

  • Requires 5–7 years of experience in Clinical Operations technology or digital product management, with demonstrated ability to shape requirements, manage backlogs, and support delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Experience working with stakeholders, engineers, and clinical systems in an agile and regulated environment is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience working with digital applications, platforms, or technical solutions in an agile environment, preferably supporting Clinical Operations or clinical trial processes.
  • Experience gathering requirements and translating business and user needs into product vision, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlog items.
  • Good understanding of business processes, day-to-day application workflows, customer interactions, and the end-user experience within a digital product environment.
  • Working knowledge of backlog management, sprint ceremonies, release planning, team metrics, and value delivery practices in an agile product team.
  • Experience testing features, validating expected behavior, supporting release readiness, and working closely with engineers and users to refine solutions.
  • Ability to work closely with Clinical Operations users, study teams, engineers, UX, and support partners to resolve issues and improve the application experience.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail in a regulated environment and focus on measurable outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with participant data collection applications, study operations workflows, site processes, customer journeys, or related clinical technology solutions.
  • Experience supporting configuration, testing, defect triage, user feedback gathering, release readiness, or continuous improvement activities for business applications.
  • Understanding of system integrations, data flows, reporting, automation, cybersecurity, or downstream impacts relevant to participant or clinical operations data.
  • Exposure to privacy, validation, quality, or compliance expectations in healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated environments.
  • Experience partnering with end users to improve usability, training, adoption, collaboration, and ongoing support for digital tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own vision, priorities, and near-term roadmap for participant data collection capabilities in alignment with Clinical Operations objectives, business impact, and study delivery needs.
  • Shape and prioritize the squad backlog by translating Clinical Operations needs, study process requirements, and customer insights into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Balance business value, customer experience, and technical feasibility while prioritizing features, enhancements, fixes, and release content.
  • Act as the voice of the customer within the squad to help ensure solutions meet user needs across Clinical Operations, study teams, sites, and participant-facing processes.
  • Work closely with engineering, UX, data management, privacy, security, quality, and compliance stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Facilitate release planning, sprint planning, reviews, demos, and synchronization with dependent teams to support delivery across cross-squad and operational workflows.
  • Track squad-level metrics and operational results to provide visibility into adoption, delivery performance, data quality, and user outcomes.
  • Work with the Lead Engineer to assess solution options, support user testing readiness, and balance technical debt with feature delivery.
  • Support communications, training, documentation, and stakeholder engagement to improve adoption, clarity on roadmap activities, and release readiness.
  • Actively participate in squad ceremonies and continuous improvement activities to help optimize the flow of value and delivery efficiency.
