About The Position

Motorola Solutions, through its subsidiary Silvus Technologies, is seeking a highly motivated Technical Product Manager (TPM) to drive requirements, product backlog, market adoption, and revenue growth for the Electronic Warfare (EW) & Sensing Solutions product portfolio. This role is crucial for translating complex defense requirements into specific hardware configurations, software specifications, and intuitive operator experiences, bridging the gap between tactical EW mission requirements and engineering execution. The TPM will own the technical requirements, hardware New Product Introduction (NPI), and user experience for sensor products, including the FASST Sensing Technology. The position requires up to 25% travel and is based in Irvine, CA, with a hybrid schedule involving days in both Irvine and West Los Angeles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, RF Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical product management or systems engineering experience within the defense, aerospace, or wireless communications industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of wireless communications, RF systems, signal processing, software-defined radios (SDRs), mesh networking, or electromagnetic spectrum operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate high-level military or tactical use cases into logical and structured technical requirements.
  • Proven track record of influencing cross-functional engineering, operations, and sales teams without direct authority to meet rigid release dates.
  • Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one within 15 months of hire.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Electronic Warfare (EW), passive sensing, signal collection (DF/AOA), spectrum monitoring, tactical ISR architectures, or electromagnetic anti-jam/LPI/LPD waveform technologies.
  • Strong systems-level thinking and the capacity to evaluate physical hardware trade-offs alongside firmware/software constraints, with proven familiarity coordinating physical hardware manufacturing, and supply-chain ramp-up.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an MBA from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices and managing complex backlogs using tools like Jira.

Responsibilities

  • Translating high-level tactical EW mission capabilities into granular, software user stories and hardware/sensor configurations.
  • Directing the technical requirements, driving physical hardware New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles, and validating the end-to-end user experience for the FASST Handheld and LSNRS product portfolios.
  • Owning and defining how the transceiver operates for edge node operations.
  • Collaborating closely with hardware and software engineering teams.
  • Managing sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release cadences for specialized EW-related software features, firmware builds, and technical updates.
  • Conducting technical analysis of customer feature requests, evaluating engineering timelines, and establishing scope boundaries to balance schedule constraints against field expectations.
  • Overseeing the technical lifecycle and physical hardware New Product Introduction (NPI) of the FASST and LSNRS products from initial concept through long-term sustainment.
  • Responsible for product adoption and collaborating with sales to generate interest and revenue growth for the products.
  • Measuring and monitoring product performance, defining continuous software refinement cycles, and capturing customer and field feedback for product updates.
  • Bridging the gap between R&D, engineering, operations, and the go-to-market teams to align product execution with broader business strategy, target BOM costs, and delivery timelines.
  • Partnering with Sales, Business Development, and Applications Engineering to translate complex operator feedback, program office specifications, and competitive intelligence into actionable feature priorities.
  • Supporting defense integrators and system engineers in validating plug-and-play integrations of Silvus EW/Sensing technologies into terrestrial, aerial, and maritime platforms.
