Strategic Comp, a result-oriented, performance-driven commercial insurance business unit, is seeking a Technical Product Manager at its home office in Cincinnati, OH. This role will support underwriting applications and partner with enterprise product implementation teams to articulate a vision that drives the division’s underwriting strategy. The company culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships, with employees expected to be on-site four days a week (Tuesday-Thursday core days) with one flexible remote day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience that includes experience in technical product management.
  • Strong understanding of product development and development framework, ideally Extreme Programming.
  • Exhibits analytical skills with the ability to gather and analyze data to drive problem solving and decision-making.
  • May own product strategy and execution, ensuring alignment between customer needs, business goals, and technology capabilities.
  • Exhibits business knowledge and the ability to identify and define business needs including an understanding of the organization's business and technology operations.
  • Demonstrates strong customer focus by being responsive, consultative, collaborative and accurate in work approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Lean methodologies preferred.
  • User-Centered Design certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains the product roadmap for underwriting systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to gather and prioritize underwriting system product requirements, translating business needs into technical specifications and user stories.
  • Defines and drives product strategy by aligning business objectives with long-term technical innovation, ensuring scalability and future-proofing product decisions.
  • Provides ongoing production support by managing support intake, coordinating cross-functional resolution of incidents and defects, analyzing recurring issues and user feedback, driving corrective actions, and implementing process and product enhancements.
  • Maps workflows, identifies bottlenecks, and collaborates with stakeholders to optimize underwriting processes, incorporating AI solutions where appropriate.
  • Documents and manages multiple projects concurrently, maintaining strong organization and clear visibility into progress and priorities.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies, architecture decisions, and integration approaches to optimize performance, security, and system compatibility.
  • Oversees the product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, working with engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of features and enhancements.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for product-related inquiries and communicates product vision, strategy, and progress to stakeholders.
  • Advocates for the end-user by ensuring products are intuitive, user-friendly, and meet high standards of quality, conducting usability testing and gathering user feedback.
  • Leverages technical knowledge to make informed decisions about product architecture, design, and implementation, partnering with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Tracks and analyzes product performance metrics, identifies areas for improvement, and implements changes to optimize product performance.
  • Fosters a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams and facilitating communication and coordination between departments.
