About The Position

Torc is a leader in autonomous driving technology, focused on developing software for automated trucks. As part of the Daimler family, Torc is pioneering the future of freight transportation. The Technical Product Management (TPM) Team is crucial in aligning the technology roadmap, accelerating corporate milestones by directing development teams towards critical objectives. They achieve this through cross-functional coordination, decision-making, defining acceptance criteria, and ensuring shared accountability for deliverables and timelines. TPMs manage dependencies, proactively address risks and resource gaps, and implement change management best practices to maintain alignment and documentation. They also partner with engineering teams to ensure accountability and provide clear updates on the technology roadmap's health.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Technical Product Manager, or Technical Program Manager in autonomous vehicles, robotics, automotive, or similar industries.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field plus demonstrates competences and technical proficiencies typically acquired through 6+ years of experience OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field plus demonstrates competences and technical proficiencies typically acquired through 3+ years of experience.
  • A strong track record of driving execution of cross-functional programs and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing a cross-functional roadmap, including the dependencies, risks, and change management.
  • Strong active listening, negotiation, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to provide clear, well-structured, and concise communications tailored to different audiences.
  • The desire to grow your technical and program skillsets in an ever-evolving industry.

  • Experience in the Autonomous Vehicle Industry
  • Experience designing and releasing to safety standards
  • Experience integrating safety case, requirements, and acceptance criteria into Systems and SW design
  • Experience leading a team to a production launch

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a conduit between the needs of Engineering, Safety, and other critical functions.
  • Identify and prioritize needs for Requirements and Safety workstreams.
  • Work with other TPMs and engineering leaders to ensure timely design and implementation into E/E systems.
  • Represent these areas to build cross-functional plans, define and verify acceptance criteria, drive alignment, and deliver workstream outcomes on the Technology Roadmap.
  • Reconcile gaps in timelines, focus leadership attention, and proactively address dependencies, risks, and change management.
  • Leverage the roadmap to inform short and long-term priorities of these workstreams to support engineering in advancing company milestones.
  • Apply best practices in program management and engineering expertise to report status to leadership, initiate escalations, and drive timely execution on the Technology Roadmap, including its dependencies, risks, and changes.
