Blue Canyon TechnologiesBoulder, CO
$105,000 - $175,000Onsite

About The Position

Blue Canyon Technologies (BCT), a small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider, is seeking a Technical Product Manager II to own the technical direction of one of BCT's product lines. This role involves navigating between customers, engineering, and the business to build roadmaps, frame tradeoffs, and guide the team through complex priorities. The ideal candidate will take ownership, ask insightful questions, and drive progress with incomplete information. This is a high-ownership, low-ceremony role focused on enabling space missions for science and defense, requiring a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to carrying the company's mission forward.

Requirements

  • A technical degree (Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or similar) and 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, with the ability to think through interactions between engineering domains — mechanical, electrical, software, thermal, and more.
  • Exposure to a product or subsystem across its lifecycle, with a growing grasp of concept through qualification, production, and sustainment, including TRLs.
  • The ability to work across Engineering, BD, Program Management, and Operations.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • GNC engineering experience — extra points for familiarity with BCT systems
  • Spacecraft systems engineering experience with direct experience in a subsystem BCT supports (ADCS, Power, C&DH, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with a component solution BCT supplies or competes against (star trackers, reaction wheels, CMGs, torque rods, sun sensors, SADAs, batteries, solar arrays)
  • Early product management, product development, or technical leadership exposure
  • Configurable or variant-based products
  • Trade studies and parametric analysis
  • Familiarity with specs, SOWs, and subcontract technical inputs
  • Flight-program experience under schedule pressure
  • MATLAB or Python
  • JIRA or similar planning/tracking tools
  • A "figure it out and get it done" instinct
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap for your assigned product line — keeping it current as customer needs, missions, and the market evolve.
  • Be the technical voice of the customer. Turn mission requirements, feedback, and market trends into clear priorities engineering can act on.
  • Support the external story. Help prepare conference material and technical papers, and contribute to customer conversations that show what's now feasible.
  • Contribute to customer technical exchanges and reviews, communicating status, risk, and direction clearly.
  • Run product trade studies that balance performance, cost, manufacturability, and mission goals.
  • Support proposals and investment planning. Contribute technical content, ROMs, schedules, and risk inputs, and help scope IRAD/CRAD opportunities.
  • Help keep the product line consistent. Support technical guidance on interfaces and design intent.
  • May include personnel management responsibilities.

Benefits

  • Employer sponsored health, dental, and vision benefits effective the first of the month following hire date
  • Life insurance
  • 401k (matching 4% with a minimum 5% contribution)
  • Generous PTO (3 weeks of vacation + 3 floating holidays, 2 weeks of sick time, 7 paid holidays throughout the year) and parental leave
