About The Position

Penguin Random House is seeking a Technical Product Analyst for its Customer Operations team, supporting Distrotheque (DTQ), a proprietary metadata and asset distribution platform used to distribute book metadata and digital assets to customers and partners. Reporting to the Director, Customer Operations & Product Management, this role works closely with the Business Systems Analyst, business stakeholders, Customer Operations subject matter experts, and technology partners to support DTQ’s ongoing development, testing, and reliability. The Technical Product Analyst provides technical and analytical support across the product-development lifecycle, with emphasis on requirements, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and release readiness. The role analyzes DTQ workflows, business rules, data flows, integrations, and dependencies; translates business needs into detailed requirements; tests functionality; investigates defects and production issues; and maintains documentation. This position is open to remote work.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in technical product analysis, business systems analysis, software quality assurance, or a related field.
Experience translating business needs into detailed functional or technical requirements.
Experience developing and executing software test plans, test cases, and regression testing.
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate complex system or data issues.
Experience working with data to troubleshoot issues and validate system behavior.
Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical partners.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Nice To Haves

Experience with metadata, digital asset management, distribution systems, or other complex data-driven platforms.
Familiarity with ONIX and book industry metadata standards.
Experience with automated testing, scripting, and structured data feeds.

Responsibilities

Partner with the Business Systems Analyst and business stakeholders to translate business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Analyze DTQ workflows, business rules, data flows, integrations, and system dependencies to assess requirements and the impact of proposed changes.
Develop and execute functional, regression, integration, and release testing for enhancements, fixes, and new functionality.
Document, investigate, and track defects through resolution, partnering with technology teams to reproduce issues and validate fixes.
Build and maintain regression test coverage for critical DTQ functionality and identify opportunities to improve or automate testing practices.
Support Agile development activities, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, requirements clarification, and release preparation.
Troubleshoot production and operational issues using data and system analysis to identify root causes and recommend sustainable solutions.
Monitor system processes and exception reporting, escalating issues and identifying recurring patterns or areas of risk.
Support production releases through testing, validation, documentation, and post-release monitoring.
Maintain clear functional, technical, testing, and process documentation to strengthen shared knowledge of DTQ.
Analyze data and system performance to identify opportunities for improved reliability, efficiency, automation, and product functionality.
Collaborate with the Business Systems Analyst, Customer Operations SMEs, and technology partners to ensure solutions meet documented requirements and broader business needs.
