About The Position

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking Engineering, Professional, Technical, and administrative support personnel as part of their staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from Y-12 staff. AIS provides pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Requirements

  • Active DOE Q clearance or ability to get one is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree with 10-14 years’ experience in technical disciplines in addition to experience writing technical procedures in a commercial or Weapons Complex facility.
  • In lieu of bachelor’s degree, a technical background with 18 years’ experience in writing technical procedures in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex may be considered.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and administrative requirements affecting procedures.
  • Ability to determine the technical requirements that apply to the procedures by examining DOE Orders and Standards; 60-101PD, Quality Assurance Program Description, and Y60-015, Integrated Quality Manual; Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documents; and Hazard Analysis documents.
  • Pre-employment Drug Screen.
  • Medical Exam(s) may be required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy.
  • Must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new, revised, or modified technical procedures which enable personnel to safety and correctly perform tasks associated with dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection.
  • Comply with Y15-232, Technical Procedure Process, and the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT).
  • Occasionally develop or revise administrative procedures and comply with Y15-235, Administrative Management Requirements Process, and the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT).
  • Develop Enterprise procedures applicable to Y-12 and Pantex.
  • Prepare & coordinate procedure reviews and comment resolution.
  • Implement hazard controls, capture quality and performance data, and ensure that the procedure can be performed as written through verification and validation.
