About The Position

As a Technical Operator, you will be responsible for maintaining, operating, and improving equipment to meet key operational targets in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery. This role requires solid engineering knowledge, typically gained through an apprenticeship. You will work within an autonomous team, adhering to production standards, focusing on continuous improvement, and demonstrating strong analytical and coaching skills. As the owner of a packing line, you will often lead a small team of 3-5 operators to drive KPI delivery and optimize line efficiency.

Requirements

Experience with high-speed packaging lines in FMCG, food, chemical, or pharmaceutical environments is required.
Time-served engineer with mechanical and/or electrical training with strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
Strong knowledge of engineering practices, GMP, and KPI-driven operations.
Ability to balance operational responsibilities with performance optimization.
Drives continuous improvement using CI tools and problem-solving approaches.
Analytical skills with drive to implement improvements.
Planning and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem solving skills, with an ability to see potential problems early and build in suitable contingencies.

Responsibilities

Operate, maintain, repair, and improve lines to deliver the production plan at maximum efficiency and quality.
Lead daily performance reviews and ensure timely corrective actions, ensuring that all team members are fully trained to required standards.
Coordinate operator activities to optimize skills and resources.
Plan, resource, and continuously improve changeovers to minimize waste and meet area targets.
Drive ongoing improvement of team performance and equipment reliability.
Plan and lead maintenance tasks ensuring repair activities are logged in CMMS and completion of autonomous and planned maintenance is actioned.
Lead breakdown response and coordinate engineering activities.
Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative actions.
Escalate line stoppages or prolonged breakdowns according to timelines.
