About The Position

Hennessy Research Associates, a Kemin company, is seeking a Technical Operator with a specialized focus on Media Preparation. We’re looking for a motivated team member who loves hands‑on lab work and takes pride in creating the essential materials that keep scientific discovery moving forward. In this role you will prepare high‑quality cell culture media - following established recipes, performing accurate measurements, and applying solid basic math skills to ensure every batch meets our standards. In this role, you’ll operate equipment such as steam kettles and autoclaves, support smooth production workflows, and take on additional tasks as part of routine media preparation. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Familiar with aseptic technique (working in a sterile environment)
  • Able to read, interpret, and comply with written instructions and SOPs
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Basic math skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Good manual dexterity required for accurately weighing out components and preparing equipment for use
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English proficiently

Responsibilities

  • Weigh, measure, mix, and prepare laboratory media, solutions, and reagents
  • Sterilize prepared media/solutions using autoclaves
  • Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques
  • Ensure inventory remains stocked for all media preparation requirements and communicate inventory needs accordingly
  • Follow contamination control, sanitation, and safety procedures
  • Follow laboratory quality procedures outlined in Standard Operating Procedures
  • Enter samples of prepared media and solutions to quality control for testing
  • Sweeping and mopping of laboratories/incubators/coolers - daily
  • Fill out solution records and disposition logs accurately and legibly
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure all solution/media requirements are being met
