The Technical Operations Engineer II in the TechOps role is responsible for the design, maintenance, and support of enterprise job scheduling and backup systems. This role specifically manages all functions of the JAMS job scheduling platform, oversees the Veeam backup and recovery environment, and serves as production control for developer access to production systems. The Technical Operations Engineer II ensures reliable, secure, and compliant operation of core automation and data protection processes across Arbella’s infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of JAMS job scheduling administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication, including backup job design and recovery testing.
  • Experience with Windows Server and Linux environments.
  • Understanding of Active Directory, service accounts, and permission management.
  • Scripting with PowerShell or other languages for automation and reporting.
  • Familiarity with change management, ITIL processes, and production control standards.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and process-driven discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and enhance the enterprise JAMS job scheduling platform.
  • Develop and manage job definitions, schedules, and dependencies across multiple environments.
  • Monitor job execution, troubleshoot failures, and coordinate resolutions with application and infrastructure teams.
  • Implement and document operational procedures, alerts, and reporting to ensure system reliability.
  • Manage JAMS system upgrades, configuration changes, and integrations with other enterprise tools.
  • Enforce scheduling and operational standards to ensure consistency across environments.
  • Manage and maintain the enterprise Veeam Backup & Replication platform.
  • Oversee backup jobs, replication tasks, and recovery verification.
  • Collaborate with system owners to ensure appropriate protection levels and retention policies.
  • Monitor capacity, performance, and success rates of all backup and restore operations.
  • Work directly with Veeam support and vendors to resolve issues and implement best practices.
  • Document backup and disaster recovery procedures and participate in periodic recovery testing.
  • Serve as a primary point of control for developer and contractor access to production systems.
  • Review and approve production access requests following security and compliance guidelines.
  • Monitor privileged activity and enforce least-privilege principles.
  • Maintain audit records and ensure compliance with internal access control policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Participate in system patching, maintenance windows, and change management processes.
  • Maintain operational documentation, process maps, and runbooks.
  • Provide Tier-3 support for related systems and participate in the 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual workload.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives as required.
