About The Position

We are seeking applications for a Technical Officer to provide weekend cover within the Aquaculture division of Moredun Scientific. You will join a team of people involved in the conduct of Aquaculture studies testing vaccines, therapeutics and other fish health products for use in farmed fish. The post will be based at an aquaculture research facility in East Lothian. You will be responsible for fish husbandry and supporting the operation of the aquarium. The post will be providing cover at the weekends. This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months. Moredun Scientific is a contract research organisation specialising in animal health and aquaculture product development and biosafety testing of biopharmaceuticals.

Requirements

• A biological degree or recognised Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Biological Sciences or a related discipline.
• Good interpersonal and communications skills
• Effective organizational abilities

Nice To Haves

• A good understanding of research quality management systems (eg VICH-GCP, GLP)
• Experience of working with fish or other aquatic animals in a research environment.
• A Home Office licence training qualification
• Experience of working in a laboratory environment
• A clean driving licence
