The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for motivated and experienced Technical Officer (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering) to join the Central Operations Services (COS) Engineering Delivery Team and provide high-quality technical services within the designated area of responsibility to strengthen and enhance education and research support outcomes. The Technical Officer (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering) will work independently and collaboratively within the team to contribute high quality technical services that support teaching and research activities within the designated areas of responsibility. This role involves delivering hands on assistance for practical classes, demonstrations, and research operations, maintaining and operating laboratory equipment and managing inventories. The Technical Officer will also provide guidance and training for staff and students, contribute to the development of safety documentation, and ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety standards in alignment with University policies and legislation. The position requires strong problem solving and communication skills to manage the delivery of technical support and resolve issues impacting the research operations of academic staff and students. You will be responsible for setting up and operating complex or bespoke laboratory equipment, preparing operating procedures, and assisting with the implementation of new processes, systems, and ways of working to improve efficiency and service delivery. Collaboration with other technical teams and University departments will be essential to support resource sharing and consistent practices.
