About The Position

WTOK-TV is seeking a tech-minded Technical Media Producer (TMP) to support live and pre-recorded productions at its station in Meridian, Mississippi. The station will train the producer to direct assigned productions, monitor WTOK’s on-air signals, transmitter, and FCC logs, and ingest daily programming and commercials. Regular work includes desktop video editing, directing specified newscasts and other station productions, and preparing elements for digital platforms.

The position requires learning and using production and master control systems and equipment, along with a variable work schedule that may change based on shifts, turnover, and station projects. The role involves working shifts of at least eight hours, occasionally longer, five days per week, and may require prolonged sitting or standing, carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and exposure to high noise and unusual light levels.

Requirements

• Ability to work shifts of at least eight hours, and occasionally longer, five days per week.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to carry moderately heavy equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use a computer for email, preparing reports, executing automation, and editing video.

Responsibilities

• Direct live and pre-recorded productions as assigned.
• Monitor all WTOK on-air streams, signals, transmitter, and FCC logs.
• Ingest daily programming, program segments, commercials, and promotions.
• Edit video on a desktop.
• Direct assigned newscasts and other station productions.
• Create or prepare elements for digital platforms and perform web production tasks as needed.
• Learn and operate production and master control systems and equipment, including robotic cameras, prompters, audio equipment, graphics systems, and video switchers.
• Care for station equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
