About The Position

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (DHC) is seeking a Technical Manufacturing and Production Instructor to join their Learning and Development (L&D) team, which operates the in-house aircraft manufacturing and assembly training program known as the DHC Academy. This role is for a subject matter expert in avionics, mechanical, or structures with a passion for teaching and developing new hires. DHC is experiencing significant growth and is looking to add individuals who can provide high-quality, comprehensive, and hands-on instruction to prepare employees for their future roles. While instructional experience is not a strict requirement, it is considered an asset. Multiple individuals may be hired from this posting based on their skill sets. The position is a 40-hour work week with available morning and evening shifts, determined by successful candidates and aligned with production schedules. The work is performed on-site in Calgary, Alberta.

Requirements

  • An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Avionics, Mechanics or Structures (or military equivalent) OR 10+ years of equivalent years in a relevant position.
  • Practical experience working in a technical, operational role in either an aerospace manufacturing or AMO or MRO environment is required.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft assembly techniques, materials management, quality control methodologies, and manufacturing principles is required.
  • Aptitude for instructional delivery, with the ability to develop engaging training materials and curricula.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior instructional experience in manufacturing or industrial settings is an asset.
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms, learning management systems, and training technologies is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that safety and quality are emphasized throughout the training, instructing students on adhering to industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Support the design and delivery of training programs focused on manufacturing and production processes in the aviation industry, including creating instructional materials, lesson plans, and hands-on training activities.
  • Conduct engaging classroom instruction on topics such as aircraft assembly, production techniques, and manufacturing principles, and lead hands-on practical training.
  • Assess student performance through practical assessments and projects, providing constructive feedback.
  • Assist in the creation and enhancement of curriculum materials, including workbooks, resources, and training aids, and collaborate in the development of new training courses.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and lead improvement initiatives where gaps are identified.
