About The Position

The Technical Manager provides technical leadership and engineering oversight for power plant operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant performance of generation assets. This role serves as the primary technical authority at the site and partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, and cross‑functional teams to drive asset reliability, continuous improvement, and long‑term performance. This position is ideal for an experienced engineering leader with deep power plant knowledge who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while developing people and strengthening asset integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in power generation facility experience
  • Experience in power plant engineering, maintenance, or technical leadership roles
  • Strong working knowledge of: Power plant systems and balance‑of‑plant equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of: Incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis
  • Strong working knowledge of: Asset reliability and maintenance programs
  • Strong working knowledge of: Contractor and outage management
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficiency with the use of hand and power tools and test instruments applicable to the electrician’s trade.
  • Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
  • Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
  • Basic data entry/computer skills.
  • Work as a team - Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.
  • Knowledge and experience of power plant environment
  • Ability to stay current with changing technologies
  • Experienced in conduit and cable installation, wiring and termination techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of leadership experience, supervisory, team lead, or military leadership
  • Experience with combined‑cycle, combustion turbine, and large thermal generation assets
  • Familiarity with physical and cyber security requirements
  • Experience working in regulated or compliance‑driven environments

Responsibilities

  • Act as the site technical authority for plant systems, equipment performance, and engineering standards
  • Maintain deep knowledge of unit characteristics, operating limits, and regulatory obligations
  • Lead technical evaluations of equipment issues, failures, and performance degradation
  • Own engineering documentation, drawings, calculations, and configuration management
  • Develop and maintain maintenance and reliability strategies aligned with asset management best practices
  • Lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA), incident investigations, and corrective action implementation
  • Support outage planning, execution readiness, and post‑outage performance reviews
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance to optimize preventive, predictive, and condition‑based maintenance
  • Ensure all technical activities comply with safety standards, environmental permits, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical support for incident management, risk management plans, and management of change
  • Support environmental compliance through awareness of emissions limits and permit obligations
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and self‑assessments as a technical subject matter expert
  • Lead or support capital and major maintenance projects, including technical scope, specifications, and commissioning
  • Manage technical risk related to plant modifications and upgrades
  • Ensure effective change management for all engineering and technical changes
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering and technical staff
  • Promote a culture of safety, technical rigor, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Security, and Corporate Engineering
