About The Position

The Technical Leader leads the technical scope of complex projects through the whole execution phase (design, development, integration, testing, commissioning). This role will drive the technical execution of key offerings including, but not limited to, Digital Control Systems (DCS), Conventional Protection & Control Systems, Distribution Automation, Process Bus Digital Substations, Cybersecurity, and Top-Down Engineering Solutions. This individual will collaborate with business development and sales teams to analyze customer needs and translate into technical specifications aligned with the company's overall technology strategy. Project execution encompasses hardware devices (protection relays, bay controller units, auxiliary relays, industrial computers, synchronizing clocks, telecom equipment) and software applications (distribution automation, process bus, advanced protection schemes, cybersecurity management, device management, assets performance, microgrid) to monitor, control and protect various industrial applications in the energy sector and in particular the electrical grids. This is a customer-facing role requiring experience presenting solutions and supporting demos, pilots, and proof‑of‑concepts to stakeholders from field engineers to executives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in technical project management of Digital Protection & Control Systems or Energy Management Solutions for utilities and industrials, ideally within Grid Automation.
  • Relevant experience in Electric Power Distribution Automation, Process Bus, Substation Digitization, Monitoring & Diagnostics, Asset Performance Management (APM), Device Management (DvM), or Cybersecurity Management.
  • Proficient in designing and programming electrical control systems, including SCADA/HMI, cybersecurity, network equipment, IEC61850, Firewalls, and more.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to travel 30% in the U.S. and Canada.

  • In-depth knowledge of automation electrical control systems, SCADA/DCS systems, and networking communication protocols.
  • Experience with smart grid technologies and renewable energy integration.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with ability to influence and lead cross functional teams.

  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Professional, Certified Protection Professional).
  • Professional Engineering license
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical project activities and ensure successful project execution from design to commissioning aligning with customer specifications and delivering in time and within budget.
  • Be the main technical interface between the customer and our project execution team. Lead customer technical meetings including kickoff, specification clarifications and design reviews.
  • Responsible of delivering the project technical scope, aligning with the customer specifications, within budget (man-hours for each technical engineering activities), within planning (jointly defined with the Project Manager).
  • Identify the project technical risks and opportunities and defining appropriate actions to mitigate risks and capture opportunities partnering with the Project Manager to obtain Variation Orders (VO) for any activity outside the defined base scope.
  • Monitor the Earned Value of each technical activity, providing regular progress updates on his scope to the Project Manager.
  • Analyze customer specifications, write project technical documentation, and validate technical solutions with customers, and ensure adherence to project document control.
  • Specify software and IEDs, manage technical execution planning, and ensure adherence to GE Vernova safety and quality standards.
  • Oversee the proper development of the technical solution and its integration.
  • Lead Internal Validations, Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, and coordinate with commissioning teams for major site milestones.
  • Address technical deviations, manage fault reports, and support site engineers remotely or on-site.
  • Provide project-specific training to customers, support tendering and commercial teams, and ensure customer satisfaction through professional project execution.
